The European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) is growing and recruiting two new legal experts/jurists to strengthen its advocacy team. The ECLJ is an organization of Christian legal experts. Since 1998, we have been working at the heart of European institutions and the UN in Strasbourg, Brussels, and Geneva to defend the pillars of society: human dignity, fundamental freedoms, and national sovereignty.

We are looking for courageous jurists who are passionate about justice, the defense of natural law, and Christian civilization.

One of the two positions offered is specifically focused on defending persecuted Christians. The other advocacy position has a more general focus and covers the other causes defended by the ECLJ.

These are full-time positions in Strasbourg, to be filled as soon as possible, on a fixed-term or permanent contract.

It combines a rigorous legal approach with political, institutional, and cultural influence to denounce and stop the persecution of Christian communities.

  • Monitor institutional and geopolitical developments in the MENA region.
  • Contribute to the unit's public communications (press, website, social media).

Required profile

  • Excellent fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of and keen interest in the MENA region, particularly the situation of Christians living there.
  • Knowledge of how international human rights mechanisms work.

Other desired skills and qualities

  • Strong writing, legal analysis, and synthesis skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in collaboration with the head of the division, in a demanding environment.
  • Cultural openness and sensitivity to the issues facing persecuted Christians (e.g., experience volunteering with an association that helps Christians in the East).
  • Ability to travel.
  • Shares the convictions defended by the ECLJ.
  • Courage.

Professional experience

  • Experience in the legal field, advocacy, or human rights is desirable.
