Seminar: Abortion in the Constitution?
The ECLJ took part in a colloquium at the Palais du Luxembourg, at the invitation of Senator Stéphane Ravier, to address the question of "inserting a right to abortion into the Constitution."
In a Senate committee room as magnificent as it was packed, Professors Anne-Marie Le Pourhiet and Guillaume Drago admirably explained the technical, legal and philosophical issues involved in inserting a right of life and death over a living being into our Constitution.
Professor Le Pourhiet analyzed "Ideological Instrumentalization of the Constitution."
Professor Drago's speech was entitled " Reflections on the constitutionalization of law."
Ms. Laurence Trochu and Mr. Puppinck addressed the political and social aspect of abortion, which has become an untouchable dogma in French political life, whereas it is above all a social and existential issue for a people.
Dr. Puppinck's written intervention, which includes references to the studies and statistics cited, can be accessed here. All the speeches are now available, and you can watch them by clicking on the images or by visiting our YouTube channel:
