It is time to take action against hatred and violence against Christians in Europe.
Anti-Christian acts are increasing dramatically. Just in 2024, more than 2,211 anti-Christian attacks were recorded in Europe, including more than 270 acts of physical violence.
Every day, crosses and calvaries are destroyed, churches are vandalized, looted, and set on fire.
Every day, Christians are silenced: in the workplace or in public spaces, so as not to suffer discrimination or put themselves in danger.
Every day, people are physically and verbally assaulted in the street, at work, in schools, or in churches because they are Christians.
Every year in Europe, Christians are murdered because of their faith. Let us remember the martyrdom of Father Jacques Hamel in 2016, of Yvonne T. in Freiburg, Germany, in 2016, of F.S., an Afghan woman who converted to Christianity, stabbed in front of her children in Germany in 2017, of Diego Valencia, a sacristan murdered in his sacristy in Spain in 2023, a worshipper murdered during Mass in Istanbul in January 2024, a 76-year-old Spanish monk murdered in Valencia in November 2024, and Ashur Sarnaya, an Iraqi Christian refugee who had his throat slit in France in September 2025. They died at the hands of radical atheism and Islamism.
And how many people were murdered in terrorist attacks because they belonged to a Christian community?
More insidiously, Christians' freedom is being curtailed by social intolerance. People are being convicted in court for praying or quoting the Bible, Christian hospitals are being forced to perform abortions and euthanasia, teachers, pharmacists, doctors, and nurses are punished for their faith, judges order the destruction of calvaries, and a certain Minister of Education seeks to ban prayer in private Christian schools.
It is imperative that this trend be reversed.
There are mechanisms to combat anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, but nothing concerning Christians. This is unacceptable.
Christians must defend themselves, their freedoms, and their heritage, and society must support them in this fight. That is why we want society to become aware of this crimes committed before our eyes every day against Christians and against the Christian identity of Europe.
To raise awareness, we are asking MEPs to put “the fight against anti-Christian hatred” on the agenda of the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
