Anchor: President Asif Ali Zardari has taken notice of the incident and sent a team from Islamabad to Karachi under the leadership of Napoleon Qayyum. All the doctors have colluded and they want doctor Jabbar Memon not to be punished. The police department is fully supporting [the doctors].

Lawyers, Amir Mansoor and Khurram Shahzad are representing the nurse.

Amir Mansoor: The defendant, doctor Jabbar is currently in physical remand and on July 26 he will appear before the judicial magistrate. On that hearing we will move the court to have his statement under section 164 Cr.P.C. be recorded.

The documents that we have received show that the police department is not properly investigating the case and  Dr. Jabbar’s friends are favoring him in the reports.

Khurram Shahzad: As far as the investigation is concerned, we are not satisfied with it.

[The girl’s] statement has been recorded and [she has] named other defendants too, one is Sajjad Fatima, and the other one is Dr. Jabbar’s driver. But they have not been arrested yet.

We have heard that Dr. Jabbar’s driver has left the city. But Sajjad Fatima is here. The police have recorded her statement, but have not arrested her. Why have they not arrested her yet, even though [the victim] has mentioned [Sajjad’s] name [as one of the accomplices in the crime] in her statement?

Anchor: Media is not allowed to meet with the [victim] or the alleged rapist. Leaders of the community have demanded rangers for the security of the [victim] and her family. According to the victim’s family, the defendants are very influential and they are continuously threatening the family. The family has demanded that the defendants’ licenses should be cancelled.
